A Vaughn Moment

Before I share this story that is all of a paragraph, let me start from the beginning. Our neighbors across the street have a little boy, Andrew, who is 5. In Vaughn's eyes, the sun rises and sets in Andrew. He is just the coolest kid on the planet to Vaughn. We are very fortunate to be neighbors to such a nice family as well as one with kids Vaughn's age.

Andrew has been racing dirt bikes for the past 2 years and last year they built a really cool dirt bike track on their property. Last summer we went to one of Andrew's races. Vaughn was INSTANTLY in awe of the whole sport. We even took Mya. I wasn't sure how'd she'd do with all of the loud noise, but she laughed HYSTERICALLY the entire time we were there! It was so funny! So after that race Vaughn decided he wanted to race dirt bikes too and in November when Jeff and I asked him what he was going to ask Santa for he said a dirt bike. Well, he actually said 100 of them but we were able to talk him into 1:)

Christmas comes, and we seriously thought about it. We looked online for deals and to get a good one it was just going to be too expensive. Our other reason not to was b/c he has never drove a dirt bike. So, we thought if he could practice on Andrew's this summer then maybe next year Santa could grant Vaughn's request. We decide to get him a few little dirt bikes since he loves to make "tracks" out of anything he can get his hands on. Even his food he makes tracks out of! He was thrilled with them. No mention of disappointment when the "real" dirt bike wasn't left for him. There was a special note from Santa explaining that if he practiced really hard over the summer then as long as Santa thought he was ready he would bring him a dirt bike if he still wanted that next year.

Fast forward to a month later. Vaughn informs me as I was cleaning up dinner that Santa messed up. I said, "How is that?" He said, "He brought me little dirt bikes and not a big one to ride on!" I told him to be more specific with Santa next year and maybe he'd bring the right thing! :) Kids are so funny!!!

Christmas

The beginning of December we attended a kids Christmas Brunch. It was so much fun, as you can see the kids had a lot of fun!

Before we left Mya had to help Mimi decorate her tree!

Eh, decorating is kind of hard so I think I will just play with it instead.

Awe I love my brother, is that my brother?

Rudolph

Look! Santa found his reindeer!

Christmas continued a few weeks later at Mimi and Papa's on Christmas Eve.

Vaughn got a new dart gun so Uncle B and Vaughn set up Papa. Uncle B hid with the gun while Vaughn yelled ,"Papa you gotta come out and see this!"

Papa wasn't going down without a fight so Uncle B teamed up with Papa and Vaughn fell for his own trick this time!!! :)

Daddy and Vaughn playing with Vaughn's new game Elefun.

Time for the wishbone again!

Can you tell who won this one!?

Way to go Vaughn! Two for two this year!

On Christmas day we went to Aunt Claudia's and Uncle Don's. There was lots of fun to be had, but the only pic I got was of Vaughn and Uncle B.

Thanksgiving Fun

Okay, so I realized as I was looking over our blogs I realized that I never finished posting our trip to Florida. We had a ball. It was nice to be able to take 2 weeks and get away. It was our last big trip as now that Vaughn is in school we have to make that a priority. Any of you out of towners, that doesn't mean you're not welcome to visit us! We're hanging up our flying shoes for the time being, however, if a certain relative in Colorado wouldn't mind us crashing her party we MAY come visit next winter. That's all Vaughn talks about so be prepared for 4 Dysons to show up at your doorstep:) Anyway, enough babbling and onto the pictures! --Thanksgiving first!

Making our Thanksgiving dessert with grandma.

Time for the wishbone with Gpa...

Can you guess who won that one?

Mya and Gma

While we were in Florida we celebrated my grandfather's 90th birthday.

Gma and Gpa with the kids

Before we left we saw the Florida Santa and Mrs. Clause.

My Little Tomboy

I want to begin by apologizing there are no pictures with this post, sorry. More to come this week - Wednesday to be exact. It's another very blessed and special day in the Dyson household:) Anyway, I just wanted to share a story with you. We have started home improvemenet projects as you saw in our dining room. Well, Mya's room is our current project, nothing major, just wallpaper border taken down, walls primed and some pink paint. Pink, you know a "girly" color? Well, as I was downstairs with Mya as Vaughn and Jeff were upstairs turning Mya's room into a "girls room" I am watching her play. She is surrounded by what you would consider "girl toys:" a kitchen, doll, purse, pink and purple ring stackers, etc. I then look at what she is playing with and in the mess of her "girl toys" I see she has sniffed out the ONLY "boy toys" in the entire living room - 2 of Vaughn's matchbox cars. She is trying to drive them along our entertainment center. As I see this I have to smile. I was such a tomboy as a kid and it drove my mom and grandma's nuts b/c I was the only girl out of 7 total grandchildren. I guess I can honestly say, Like Mother Like Daughter.

I do have to admit, I've tried the girly girl scene. It feels great to be a girly girl once in awhile, but I gotta be honest, I've come to the conclusion I'm just too lazy to be one. It's a lot of work to constantly do your hair, pick out your jewlery and make sure your make-up is always perfect! :) So as it stands, I find myself in my mom's position, I want her to be a girly girl, wear pink, dress her in cute dresses, but I have to say if she rebels one day I really can't say that I would blame her! :)

That's all from here! I'll post more Wednesday, and pictures this time, not just me babbling:)

Happy Anniversary Mya!!!

1 year ago today Mya came home after 15 days in the hospital. This day is like her birthday to us as it was the day we felt like she was finally "ours." We are so thrilled that our little fighter is where she is today. She is soooo stubborn, a mommy trait I will admit, but that's what got her to her 1st birthday and her year anniversary of being home.

I know you've seen this picture of her a million times, and I'm sure it won't be the last:) But here is her hospital picture the day we got to bring our Mya home. Even a year later it is still my favorite!!! :)

Here is her welcome banner Mimi and Vaughn made for her.

Here is big brother welcoming her home.

Mya's 1st Birthday Party

To Mya this was just another day:) She had fun with all of the kids and it was such a blessing to see all of our friends and family there to celebrate a day with her we weren't sure a year ago would even happen! Thank you for braving the weather and celebrating this special day with Mya!

This is Mya's cake. I decided to try cupcakes this year. They worked really well. I couldn't just have cupcakes though, I had to have some sort of design. So, Jeff decided to do an "M" in honor of our birthday girl!

No too sure about the hat:)

Here is Mya with her second mom, Rachea. She tends to do for Rachea what I try to get her to do at home. I guess it's a good thing Rachea lives across the street!!! :)

Where's my cupcake!

Oh yeah, here it is!

I ate the WHOLE thing!!!

Shew! Need a drink after that!
